Q & A with Mike:
Q: What attracted you to accounting and consulting?
While working in a retail management position, I found that my favorite part of the job was the numbers. When it became time to go back to school, accounting seemed like a natural fit.
Q: What do you think the future holds for businesses in the Fresno area?
I believe we need to attract new employers to the area and diversify our current opportunities. Although agriculture will continue to be a strong force for the foreseeable future, industries like construction will probably struggle in the short term.
Q: What is one area of law you would like to see changed?
The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), which has fallen so fqr behind its original intention to be almost unworkable. The fact that Congress has refused to index the thresholds at which it applies means that AMT applies to far more taxpayers than it should, and far more than the law intended. |

Getting
personal...
What are your outside interests?
I enjoy building scale models, mostly of military airplanes and armored vehicles from World War I through World War II. It's even better, because my son and I enjoy this hobby together. I'm also interested in classic auto- mobiles, and am currently working on the restoration of two classic MG sports cars.
Who has inspired you in life and why?
My father inspired me more than anyone else in life with his refusal to give up.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a fountain man at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Restaurant. I was responsible for making the ice cream sundaes, sodas, milk shakes, etc. The job taught me a great deal about building responsibility and dealing with pressure. |
