Q & A with Nick:
Q: What attracted you to accounting and consulting?
After sitting in my first accounting course for no more than a month, I realized that accounting was the pro-fession I wanted to pursue. Accounting makes sense to me. It is structured and certain rules need to be followed in order for everything to balance.
Q: Do you have any words of wisdom for up-and-coming accountants?
You can only be great at something you truly love to do. Make sure accounting/ tax/auditing is something you actually love doing.
Q: What makes working with Torosian & Walter different than other work experiences?
Before I came to T&W, I worked at a mid-size firm in Seattle, WA called Moss Adams. Although, I enjoyed working there, the work experiences differed greatly. I feel that T&W has made me a more skilled and well-rounded tax accountant. For example, at the senior level I took on the role as "project manager" for a client and have also had the opportunity to work side-by-side with partner, Steve Walter.

Getting
personal...
Q: Describe your favorite vacation...
My wife and I went to Rome and Milan for our honeymoon. It was unbelievable. The history of the Roman Empire blows my mind. There was so much to see in Rome, but my two favorite sights from each city where the Capital Hill in Rome and the Duomo in Milan.
Q: What are your outside interests?
I really enjoy taking care of my vegetable garden. Currently, It is only 4 ft. by 10 ft., but I plan on expanding it this spring so that I can grow corn and other types of vegetables that require more space.
Q: What was your first job?
Believe it or not, my first real job was playing professional baseball. I was drafted out of high-school in the 5th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2000, I was traded by the Dodger to the Yankees organization and played AA baseball in Norwich, CT for 3 years. I ended up playing 6 years in the minor leagues before finally deciding to pursue the career I'm in today.
