Q & A with Katy:
Q: What personal factors do you consider most important in your success?
A: I have found that learning is one of the most important aspects of success. I may not always be successful, but the skills and experience I gain in any given opportunity are so valuable for future success. Even when I am successful, I realize that there is always something that can be improved. I try to find just as much joy in the journey as the destination.
Q: What are you standards of success?
A: I have always valued quality over quantity. I realize that it is impossible to be the best at everything but I work hard to be the best in the areas where I do excel and I am constantly looking for ways to further improve. You're never done learning.
Q: When do you do your best at work?
A: I do my best work when I am a part of a team that values each other as much as it values success. When everyone is working together towards a common goal, so much more is accomplished. That being said, Torosian & Walter is a great place to be!

Getting
personal...
Q: Where did you grow up? What was it like then or how has it changed?
A: I grew up in a log cabin house on the outskirts of Clovis, California on the way to Shaver Lake. I always loved the space and freedom of living in the country, so I never complained when my parents told my brothers and I to play outside rather than sit in front of the TV. I also appreciated being such a short drive away, about half an hour, from my favorite place -- the mountains.
Q: What are your outside interests?
I love creating art. Painting with watercolor or acrylics and photography are my favorite mediums, but I am content anytime I have the opportunity to work with my hands to create something beautiful.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was working as a barista for the Starbucks Coffee Company. It was an excellent first job that taught me the importance of going above and beyond to serve the customer and how to work quickly and efficiently in fast-paced, high pressure situations -- skills that I have found to be valuable and applicable in every job following.
